Overview

What do Korean bojagi wrapping cloths, Cameroonian Bamileke boubous, Peruvian montera hats and Hungarian shepherd coats have in common? All are created using the ancient craft of patchwork.

Pieced together much like the gorgeous textiles it celebrates, this vibrant book takes you from Europe and the Americas to Africa and Asia, highlighting the distinctive local features of over 300 examples of patchwork and appliqué, while revelling in the universality of these wonderful textile arts. In the deepest sense, this book is composed from fragments of human lives laid side by side in a way that allows the creativity and hard work of practitioners to shine through.
