International Rights Assistant

We are looking for an International Rights Assistant with a passion for illustrated publishing. Reporting to the International Rights Director you will be responsible for the accurate fulfilment of foreign language co-edition and licence agreements and will provide full administrative back-up to our Rights Executives. This role will involve regular liaison with other in-house departments, including finance, editorial, design, marketing & publicity, production, and picture research, as well as with external publishers. We are therefore looking for a team player with great communications skills.

The role

  • Providing full administrative back-up to the Rights Executives, ensuring accurate fulfilment of all co-edition and licence sales
  • Raising, sending and tracking orders, contracts and invoices
  • Sending out translation materials and answering editorial and production queries
  • Liaising daily with publishers via e-mail, phone and video conferencing
  • Tracking production of co-editions, monitoring schedules
  • Checking foreign language files, sending out printing materials for approval and arranging shipping of finished books
  • Maintaining departmental spreadsheets to track co-edition and licence sales, schedules, invoicing and payments

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Publishing qualification and/or some previous publishing experience, preferably gained in a sales or production environment
  • European languages (preferred but not essential) and an interest in working with people from other countries and cultural backgrounds
  • Office experience, including good keyboard and computer skills
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Strong communication skills – both written & spoken
  • Ability to prioritise and multi-task
  • Attention to detail/accuracy
  • Numeracy and commercial awareness
