Editorial Internship (6 month paid placement)

Thames & Hudson is the leading global publisher of illustrated books on the visual arts, architecture, design, history and popular culture. We are offering an opportunity for a bright, energetic and resourceful graduate to join our editorial department, providing support to editors across our list to gain a valuable insight into the processes of illustrated publishing.

You will be given the opportunity to shadow an editor, overseeing and assisting in the editing, picture research, design and proofing stages of the production process, to gain a full understanding of the life of a book from manuscript delivery to press pass. Day-to-day you will provide both administrative and editorial support to commissioning teams across the department, undertaking a range of tasks including proofreading, drafting sales copy, checking proofs and ebooks, organizing couriers, and researching and managing physical and digital illustrations.

This is a varied role requiring excellent organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced working environment. You should be enthusiastic, self-motivated and conscientious, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a small team. You will have a keen eye for detail and a passion for impeccable spelling and grammar.

This is an exciting chance to work on a wide variety of beautiful and innovative books in a highly creative environment in central London and to gain invaluable experience and understanding of all aspects of the publishing process. A good working knowledge of Word and Excel is essential.
