We are offering an opportunity for a bright, creative and resourceful graduate to join our editorial department and gain a valuable insight into the processes of illustrated publishing. Our offices are in Central London but this will be a remote position for the foreseeable future. IT equipment will be provided for home-working.
You will be given the opportunity to shadow and assist in the editing, picture research, design and proofing stages of the production process, to gain a full understanding of the life of a book from proposal to press pass. Day-to-day you will provide both administrative and editorial support to commissioning teams across the department, undertaking a range of tasks including reviewing submissions, proofreading layouts, drafting sales copy, checking proofs and ebooks, and researching or assessing illustration material. You will also provide dedicated support to our Reprints Editor, ensuring the swift execution of reprints of our backlist titles in response to Sales needs.
This is a varied role requiring excellent organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced working environment. You should be enthusiastic, conscientious and self-motivated, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a small team remotely. You will have a keen eye for detail and a passion for impeccable spelling and grammar.
This is an exciting chance to work on a wide variety of beautiful and innovative books and to gain invaluable experience and understanding of all aspects of the publishing process. A good working knowledge of Word and Excel is essential.
