Cost Accountant

We are looking to recruit an experienced Cost Accountant to work in our Finance department. The purpose of this role, which will report to our Financial Controller, is to ensure all titles are accurately costed, and to monitor and analyse production costs.

This role will take full responsibility for all cost accounting, including maintaining the costing module in Sage x3, investigating variances between actual and budgeted costs, monthly close, reconciliations, and the production of reports on cost of sales and profitability. You will also carry out ad hoc requests and analyses to support Finance, Production and other departments within the company. There will also be opportunities to input into and test upcoming IT enhancements.

We are looking for someone with experience of cost accounting modules and processes – preferably in the publishing industry – who has a good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including using VLOOKUPS and pivot tables. Strong attention to detail and good analytical and problem-solving skills are a must. Experience of BusinessObjects is preferable, but not essential.

The ideal candidate will be a team player who understands the bigger picture and is supportive to other finance team members and the wider business, as well as a proactive self-starter keen to enhance processes and develop the analytical side of the role, and who can explain financials to non-financial people.
