Book Cover and Jacket Designer

We are seeking an exceptional cover and jacket designer: a creative and market savvy individual who has proven graphic and/or communication design experience to join our busy in-house design studio. T&H publishes in a wide range of subject areas for a visually aware global audience and our covers need to seduce and appeal to discerning readers with diverse interests and varied backgrounds.

We will be looking for portfolios that demonstrate strong conceptual thinking, versatility, a rich visual language, sophisticated and expressive typography, an ace picture editor’s eye, a love of colour and appreciation and clever use of finishes and materials, and the ability to fuse all these elements together to create desirable, distinctive and impactful designs.

You’ll need a collaborative attitude and excellent verbal and written communication skills – this position can require close collaboration with international authors, artists, and photographers; in-house picture researchers, editors, production controllers as well as the in-house design team and our colleagues in the publishing, sales and marketing departments.

Like all great craftspeople, you will be keen to roll your sleeves up – happy to be hands on keyboard, taking responsibility for all practical aspects of the design process from convincing visual presentations of your design concepts, right through to technically perfect files ready for production.

Good organisational skills, decisiveness, flexibility, speed, and a firm grasp of print production processes and materials and fluency in Adobe Creative Suite are essential. Familiarity with Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams) are also needed.

To apply, please send a covering letter, CV, details of your current salary and recent examples of your work to Alice Craddock, HR: recruitment@thameshudson.co.uk

Please note our email system cannot accept large attachments, so if you wish to send a digital portfolio as PDFs, please email beforehand to make arrangements.
