Join Miguel Domínguez as he discusses all things manga with Paul Gravett.
Paul Gravett has curated for The Barbican Centre a 1,000 square-metre exhibiton entitled Mangasia: Wonderlands of Asian Comics. Opening in Rome in October 2017, the exhibition presents the largest ever selection of original artworks from Asian comics, displayed alongside their printed, mass-produced forms, many of them rarely, if ever, shown outside their country of origin. Paul will be discussing how this landmark exhibition came together and launching his accompanying book, Mangasia: The Definitive Guide to Asian Comics.
Miguel Domínguez is a long-time comic book, manga and anime original art collector as well as a member of the senior staff of Expocómic, Madrid’s International Comic Book Convention 2001 to 2015. These two facts together with his extreme enthusiasm crystallized in his art gallery Artcoholics, where much of Spain’s top comic book talent sell their original art. Needless to say Miguel has tales to tell in particular about the many scams in the manga art world and now he’s ready to share these with you. He’ll show you how to spot a manga fake and show how manga mania can turn into manga madness.
