Thames & Hudson is the leading global publisher of illustrated books on creativity and visual culture. We are looking for a Sales Ledger Clerk to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Senior Accounts Officer, you will ensure that invoices are produced accurately to tight deadlines, and that credit control activities are carried out on a timely basis. The job holder will also spend between 1 and 2 days per week assisting with wider finance activities, mainly in the areas of banking, cash and the processing of expense claims.
The Role
Sales Ledger
– Raising all sales invoices in a timely manner, based on requests from the business
– Allocating cash receipts from customers and resolving cash allocation issues on a weekly basis
– Entering Sales Confirmations of Orders onto the finance system
– Carrying out credit control procedures in accordance with departments’ policy
– Preparing credit control meetings with various departments within the organization
– Assisting with annual audit requirements
Banking, Cash & Expenses
– Banking – paying in cash and cheques at the bank
– Checking staff expense claims using SAP Concur
– Cash advances to staff travelling overseas – ordering and picking up foreign currency from the bank, distributing this to staff, collecting cash being returned and keeping records
– Maintaining records of petty cash
– Assisting with ad hoc finance tasks as required
Knowledge, skills & experience
– Previous Sales Ledger and Credit Control experience
– Good understanding of sales ledgers (nominal ledger and purchase ledger desirable)
– Proficient in Microsoft Office, including intermediate Excel
– Knowledge and use of an accounting package; Sage desirable but not essential
– Good organisational skills and strong attention to detail
– Reliable, methodical and conscientious, including when under pressure
– Committed to delivering work to a high standard
– Flexible, open-minded and adaptable
– Self-motivated and able to work well as part of a team
